User Registration
A FormGlut form can create a WordPress user account when a visitor submits it. Use it for sign-up forms, member areas and course registrations.
Set it up
- Build a form with at least an Email Address field. Add a Password field, a username field and a Name Fields field if you want them.
- Open the form’s Settings › User registration.
- Turn on Create a WordPress account.
- Map the fields:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Email field | Required. No account is created without it. |
| Username field | Empty makes the username from the email address. |
| Password field | A Password field. Empty: WordPress emails the user a link to set a password. |
| First name field / Last name field | A Name field works too: it is split into first and last name. |
| Log the new user in | Logs the user in right after submitting. Works when the form has a Password field. |
- Click Save settings.
Which role do new users get?
New users get the role set in WordPress Settings › General › New User Default Role. If that role could manage the site, FormGlut uses Subscriber instead. A form never creates an administrator.
Good to know
- Registration only runs for visitors who are not logged in.
- FormGlut never stores the password in the entry.
- Use Password field options to add a strength meter and a confirmation box.
FormGlut Pro adds login forms, profile updates, password reset, email confirmation, admin approval of new accounts, a User Role field and front-end post submission.
